April 28, 2007 is a red letter day on West Bengal 's business calendar. It is marked by four milestone events:
1.
Commercial launch of West Bengal's first two-wheelers by Global Automobiles;
2.
Signing MoU for West Bengal 's second 4-wheeler plant between Xenitis and
Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group;
3. Signing MoU for production of mobile phones between Xenitis and Asia's leading mobile manufacturer Longcheer Holdings, and
4.
Singing MoU with three major hardware importers for procurement of complete production for three years.
On February 15, 2007 , Global Automobiles launched West Bengal 's first two-wheeler factory at
Kamdebpur, Hooghly , for large scale production of bikes. The factory was inaugurated by Shri Buddhadeb
Bhattacharjee, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Govt of West Bengal. April 28, 2007 marks the commercial launch of the two-wheeler.
Inspired by the response that Global Automobiles has already elicited from the two-wheeler market, Xenitis is signing another MoU with GAIG on April 28, for production of 4-wheelers from West Bengal . Once
onstream, this will be West Bengal 's second 4-wheeler factory after Hindustan Motors. GAIG produces motorcycles, cars and buses in collaboration with leader automobile giants from Japan .
On April 28, Xenitis will also sign another MoU with Asia 's leading OEM mobile manufacturers, the Longcheer Group, for setting up a mobile manufacturing plant in West Bengal . The two groups will work closely to take a mobile handset from its design to its final marketable stage. Longcheer is an industry leader in Asia , specializing in providing complete knockdown (CKD) and semi knockdown
(SKD) designs solutions for telecom companies.
MoUs will also be signed with three major hardware importers/ distributors in India on the same day for procurement of complete production for three years. This will help boost production and sales for Xenitis' computer and computer component manufacturing unit, which produces cases, keyboards, mouse and power supplies, and has been the leading computer manufacturer/ seller in Eastern India .
Amar PC is also signing a
MoU/ Agreement with a leading concern for supply PCs for three years at a stretch. An agreement will be signed with a leading international accreditation body for hardware training imparted mainly to underprivileged students at Xenitis' hardware training school
Technolab.
Rarely in West Bengal 's memorable history have there been so many landmark events of consequence in the course of a single day. It is only fitting therefore that such a day is graced by the august presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and his cabinet colleague Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Nirupam Sen. Others present would include senior civil servants and Industry and Financial Institutions representatives, besides several other dignitaries.
Mr Jiao
Jiamin, Director, Guangzhou Automobile Industrial Group & President, Guangzhou Motors Group and Mr Stewart Tan, Managing Director, Longcheer Holdings, Singapore will also mark the occasion with their presence.
Founded in 2002 with the Amar PC computer hardware manufacturing unit at
Chinsurah, Hooghly , Xenitis has grown to a Rs 621 crore group.
